I thought something was strange this past week when I wasn’t getting the usual hate mail in response to my comments on the ultra-leftist former Washington Post TV station, WKMG Channel In Orlando. Even more strange, my comments were not generating any votes, up or down.
I tried an experiment today. I cleared my cache and my cookies and went through stories (“stories” being the operative word in corporate media) where I had left comments. They were not there. I signed back in and scrolled down through the same stories and, sure enough, there they were as if nothing was amiss.
My screen name was Pierre Poutine.
WKMG (named for late Washington Post publisherette Katharine Meyer Graham) uses Viafoura, the heavy-handed liberal censor, as its “moderator.” Viafoura is based in Toronto.
A common theme of my comments has been calling out the overblown corona virus hype. Using their own “case numbers” as well as purported deaths, I often point out that this amounts to a recovery and survival rate of better than 98 (closer to 99) per cent.
When they run stories about those impacted by unemployment, those facing hunger and eviction, I would often point out that perhaps it wasn’t a good idea to shut down the entire state of Florida, the United States, and the world for that matter for a disease with such a low mortality rate.
WKMG is also very sensitive about race. They have deleted comments from myself and others questioning the trend in corporate media to capitalize the “b” in black, while keeping the “w” in white lower case.
They ban the use of the term “gentle giant” when used in the context of the latest murders in The Happiest Place On Earth.
In a damning indictment of Joe Biden, WKMG has even banned directly quoting some of Biden’s more memorable lines. “You ain’t black” and “Are you a junkie?” among other quotes, have been deleted.
When President Trump’s brother Robert died, WKMG kept comments up which cheered the death of Mr. Trump and which lamented that it was the “wrong Trump.”
It is generally WKMG’s practice to put comments up immediately, unless they include a trigger word, and then get around to removing the comments which offend their liberal sensibilities later.
Because of this, it is clear that they remove many comments with a conservative point of view, while keeping liberal comments up no matter how obnoxious.
When WKMG “upgraded” its comment system, it promised that the new system would be a “safe space.”
In a story about rioting across the country, I mentioned, and linked to, a video posted by their “sister” station in Detroit, WDIV. The name of the video was “1975 Detroit Crime Special.” I described how the show chronicled the decline of Detroit from the race riots of 1967 to its airing in 1975. According to the show, by 1970, Detroit was done. WKMG removed the comment.
I have also taken great delight in posting Graham Holding Corporation’s (GHC) stock price updates. It has lost nearly half its value in the past year.
In a story about McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets (of all things), I noticed at the bottom that the story originated at “CNN Newsource.” I commented, among other things, “”CNN Newsource.” And they wonder why we call them fake news. They actually opened a division that does – guess what? – FAKE NEWS!.”
The comment was “contend disabled” later in the day. It now shows as if it is still up as usual. However, in reality, the comment was removed later that day.
WKMG is particularly sensitive about “fake news” and being accused of liberal bias. When conservatives post comments, WKMG tends to allow ad-hominem liberal attacks to remain up while similar conservative comments would be removed.
I have often commented what WKMG and corporate media in general plan to do once President Trump is re-elected and their advertisers finally conclude that if these companies can’t even tell us whom to vote for and what public positions to take, how can they possibly sell us their prescription drugs, hamburgers, shoes, cars, etc.
WKMG has ben just as hostile to President Trump as the rest of corporate media when it comes to Hydroxychloroquine. I often point out a nearly-seven decade old off-patent and cheaply available drug does not buy two minute ad blocks and shower media with billions of dollars annually. Of course, such comments are routinely “disabled.”
As the “COVID” hoax continues to fall apart and the media sees its credibility crumbling (even more so than before), and as President Trump threatens to not only be re-elected, but to have his Trifecta returned thanks to Trump Democrats, the legacy liberal media is increasingly desperate and will discredit, ridicule, lie and outright censor opposing opinions.
It is clear that WKMG is only running a comment site for the purpose of having its liberal bias validated.
With a population of over 2-million, Orlando’s broadcast television stations all have dismal viewership. However, WKMG is consistently the most dismal when it comes to its 6am and 6pm newscasts. A measly 11,000 people regularly tune into its morning newscast, while even fewer, 8,400 tune in for the evening news. This is less than half of its number one competitors. Obviously, Orlandoans have a distinct distaste for corporate media’s presstitutes and whorespondents, and even more so for Channel 6.
With all corporate media continuing full-steam-ahead with the COVID hoax and having anchors and reporters perform their shows from their living rooms in the name of “social distancing,” it is unlikely their credibility or their ratings are going to improve any time soon.
LettersToTheBeast has become a repository for comments censored by Canada’s state broadcaster, the CBC. I now invite readers who have been similarly censored by WKMG (ClickOrlando.com) to submit your “content disabled” here.
