Letters To The Beast brings more terrible, sad, tragic news of the passing of yet another Gentle Giant. Seventeen-year-old Adrien Green was cut down in his prime on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 in Sanford, Florida. Green was minding his own business, merely attempting to break into a car and retrieve articles he really, really, really wanted. The car was parked inside the gates of a home on Garrison Drive.
While most comments on Orlando’s WKMG Channel 6 were supportive of the homeowner, one commenter, Kinkyjinx took umbrage: Reply to @Jack Hammer: and you are what is wrong with this society. Applauding a childs death when you don’t even know a thing about him and just assuming he is a low-life. This kid was the HS quarterback, bet you didn’t care to even know a thing about him. He is someone’s child. And NOBODY deserves to die over something so stupid as trying to steal a car, that is not a death sentence. Hopefully, someone shoots you in the back.
Your humble correspondent’s attempt to correct Kinkyjinx was memory-holed by WKMG: Reply to @Kinkyjinkx: A 17 year old is not a child. Next thing, you’ll be telling us this Gentle Giant was only looking for a bag of Skittles.
BTW, Welcome to Florida. Messing with someone else or his property IS a death sentence. This ain’t New York.
WKMG, and its censor Viafoura, who also provide memory holing for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, took exception to your correspondent’s attempt to eulogize Mr. Green: Another Gentle Giant.
Having been unable to contact Mr. Green’s mother or father, WKMG quoted his great aunt. Lillian Wright as saying, “We just want right done, justice done, and we will seem (sic) that justice will be done. We need justice on this case because we feel it. Our family was in an uproar this morning — 17 years old,”
It is unknown whether Mr. Green may have been a recent arrival from New York, Chicago, California or some other place where criminals are encouraged to ply their trade while property owners can only watch, lest they be incarcerated instead.
It is also unclear whether the home is owned by George Zimmerman.
Letters To The Beast reminds all young members of the criminal community that committing violent crimes against people and engaging in acts of theft, or even attempting to do so (as in young Mr. Green’s case), is ill-advised in Florida. Or any other Southern state for that matter.
Letters To The Beast will supply any pictures of Mr. Green in sports garb, or of himself when he was 12, as they become available.

Sanford man fatally shoots 17-year-old during burglary attempt in possible stand your ground case, officials say
Case has been turned over to Seminole County State Attorney’s Office
The Sanford Police Department and Seminole County State Attorney’s Office are investigating the deadly shooting of a 17-year-old burglary suspect Tuesday.
Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith addressed members of the media Tuesday afternoon to explain the details of the early morning incident. He said the teen, identified as Adrein Green, was burglarizing cars on the driveway of a gated home on Garrison Drive around 1:12 a.m. when the homeowner opened fire from his front door.
Smith played the 911 calls during the news conference during which the homeowner explains his wife woke him up as she was feeding their infant and heard noises outside of their residence. The caller tells dispatch he believed someone was breaking into his home and grabbed his firearm when he went to investigate.
…
“(The) man indicated that he was in fear of his life but mostly for his newborn child and his wife who were in the home,” (Seminole County Assistant State Attorney Dan) Faggard said. “We have to find there is probable cause to believe that the individual did not act in self-defense or justifiably. That’s a very high standard. Currently, we’re not able to make that determination and therefore he was not arrested this morning.”
Smith said officers found a large rock and a car battery near the passenger side of the homeowner’s vehicle. He explained marks on windows and the side of the vehicle are indicative of someone attempting to break in. Smith says this evidence leads officers to believe Green had intended to burglarize the vehicle.
